1 package(s) penne pasta ( uncooked, whole grain - can substitute with rotini or other similar small pasta )
24 ounce marinara sauce
3 cups water
1 1/2 pounds chicken tenders ( raw, or thinly sliced chicken breast )
1 1/2 cups low fat mozzarella cheese ( shredded, or Italian blend )
1/2 cup parmesan cheese, grated
1 cup panko crumbs ( whole wheat, or whole wheat Italian seasoned breadcrumbs )
to taste basil ( Optional: fresh chopped herbs - such as basil, oregano, and parsley - for garnish )
