Lemon Cake with Fresh Strawberry Buttercream

The best part about this cake, aside from the fluffy, moist and delicious lemon cake, is the fresh strawberry puree in the buttercream frosting!

For the Lemon Cake
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
1/2 cup butter, softened
3 large eggs
1 cup buttermilk
2 Tbsp fresh grated lemon zest
3 Tbsp fresh lemon juice
For the frosting:
3 sticks unsalted butter, softened
4 ½ cups confectioners sugar
½ cup fresh strawberries, washed and stemmed
1 ½ tsp vanilla
