Berry Shortcake
Delicious fresh berry shortcake made macerated strawberries and Chantilly cream

1 pint ( 2 cups) blueberries
1 pint (2 cups) strawberries (hulled and sliced)
4 teaspoons + 2 tablespoons sugar, divided
2 cups (8 ounces) pastry flour or (1 + 3/4 cups (7.5 ounces) unbleached all-purpose flour + 1/4 cup (1 ounce) cornstarch)
3/4 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 to 1 1/4 cups (8 - 10 ounces) heavy cream
1 to 2 tablespoons melted butter
coarse or sanding sugar, optional, for decorating the tops
Chantilly cream
1 pint heavy whipping cream
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 teaspoon sugar ( you can increase the sugar amount if you want to 1 tablespoon)

In a bowl toss the blueberries with 1 tablespoons of sugar to let some of the juices come out.
Similarly in another bowl add sliced strawberries and 1 tablespoon sugar and cover and refrigerate.
