Easy Beef and Broccoli Stir Fry

This beef and broccoli stir-fry is similar to the beef and broccoli you get at many Chinese restaurants, only much healthier. No MSG or mystery ingredients.

2 tablespoons Vegetable Oil, divided
1 medium onion, chopped (about 1/2 cup)
1 pkg (14 oz each) frozen broccoli florets
1 pound boneless beef sirloin, cut into 2x1/2-inch strips
5 cloves garlic, finely chopped
1/3 cup Soy Sauce (I use low sodium)
2 tablespoons firmly packed brown sugar
1 tablespoon cornstarch (or 2 tablespoons flour if you don't have cornstarch)
1 tablespoon water
Chow Mein Noodles (aka those crunchy noodles) optional
