This easy French Onion Soup recipe is one of the best soups in the world! 2 T salted butter
3 lb. vidalia onions ( thinly sliced )
1 clove garlic ( minced )
2 t minced fresh thyme
8 c beef broth
1 T Worcestershire sauce
1 bay leaf
1 T balsamic vinegar
salt and pepper ( to taste )
1 baguette ( sliced into 3/4 inch thick rounds )
8 oz Swiss or Gruyere cheese ( grated )

- Melt the butter in a large Dutch oven or soup pot over medium heat. Add the onions and saute for 20 minutes, stirring frequently. Add the garlic and saute 10 minutes more.
