Gingerbread Loaf

An old-fashioned iced gingerbread loaf has been a Christmas staple for generations! It's moist, light, and warmly spiced with ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, allspice, and molasses, for an easy breakfast, snack, or dessert that you can make in advance. Finish the cake with a vanilla citrus glaze or a dusting of powdered sugar for a festive addition to any holiday spread!

1.75 c all purpose flour
1 t baking powder
1/2 t baking soda
1 t cinnamon
1/4 t nutmeg
1/4 t cloves
1/4 t allspice
1/2 t kosher salt
1/2 c milk
1/4 c molasses
1 egg
2 t vanilla extract
1/2 c butter
1/2 c packed dark brown sugar
1/4 c full fat sour cream
Icing:
1.25 c confectioners sugar
2 T orange juice or lemon juice
1/2 t vanilla extract
1 t baking powder
1/2 t baking soda
1 t cinnamon
1/4 t nutmeg
1/4 t cloves
1/4 t allspice
1/2 t kosher salt
1/2 c milk
1/4 c molasses
1 egg
2 t vanilla extract
1/2 c butter
1/2 c packed dark brown sugar
1/4 c full fat sour cream
