I always thought making your own pie crust was for the severely domestic, bored, or overly frugal. I figured that it wasn’t something that people actually choose to do, but instead would be sort of forced into making it. Much like anything else homemade, the buttery, flaky flavors of homemade pie crust are comparable to no store-bought crust. 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour, spooned & leveled, plus more for rolling
1/2 cup (1 stick) cold unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
1 tablespoon demerara sugar
