My husband and I have this fun (you may think strange) pastime of, when we order something yummy at a sit-down restaurant, we deliberate over what we think is in it and how it's put together and eventually, if we are ambitious enough, come up with a way to replicate the dish in our kitchen. We enjoy it. :) The Monte Cristo was an easy one to figure out, and we love making them when we have breakfast for dinner. 8 slices of your favorite bread (mine was homemade)
2 eggs
1/3 cup milk
A jar of your favorite jam (we like blackberry or raspberry)
2 ounces cream cheese (or as much as you like)
Deli-sliced ham
Your favorite cheese, sliced (we use Monterey Jack)
Powdered sugar for sprinkling
