Panforte is a traditional Christmas Italian (from Siena in Tuscany to be precise) dessert containing fruits and nuts, and resembles fruitcake, only better! Trust me, this is NOT your grandma’s fruitcake. My German friend Angela said it reminded her of a similar Christmas German dessert called Lebkuchen. ¾ cups hazelnuts (skinless)
¾ cups almonds
½ cup candied orange peel
? cup dried apricots diced
? cup dried cherries
grated rind of 1 orange
? cup flour
2 TB. cocoa powder
1 tsp. cinnamon
¼ tsp ground coriander
¼ tsp. ground nutmeg
¼ tsp. ground cloves
½ cup sugar
¾ cup honey
