Poda Pitha

Poda in oriya means charred or burnt. As the name suggests, this pitha is baked and the crust is well browned.

Urad Dal - 1 cup
Rice - 2.5 Cups
Jaggery - 1 cup ( melted)
Coconut - 1 cup
Ajwain Powder - a pinch
Black pepper - A pinch
Salt - 1/2 tsp
Eno 1 tsp
Rawa - 1tbsp
Rice - 2.5 Cups
Jaggery - 1 cup ( melted)
Coconut - 1 cup
Ajwain Powder - a pinch
Black pepper - A pinch
Salt - 1/2 tsp
Eno 1 tsp
Rawa - 1tbsp
Soak Dal + Rice overnight.
Grind to Fine paste adding less amout of water.
Add Salt to it and Beat it well.
Add all the other ingredients. Let it Stand for 10 mins for fermentation.
Grease the pan with Ghee. Microwave it for 5-7 mins till its cooked.
To check for pitha readiness, insert toothpick or fork. If the dough does not stick, its ready.
Allow the pitha to cool before cutting into pieces.
