Pumpkin Bread Pudding with Apple Cider Butter Sauce

Holy heavens ... this is one amazing treat! This definitely marries all of the flavors of fall into one recipe - pumpkin (canned), apples and all of those warm autumn spices. And, the apple cider butter sauce is to die for! (Great way to use up day-old bread, too!)

3/4 cup canned pumpkin puree
1/2 cup whole milk
1 cup heavy cream
3 whole eggs plus 2 yolks
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
1/2 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
1/8 teaspoon ground clove
1/4 teaspoon salt
6 cups stale cubed bread
3/4 stick butter, melted
1 large apple, diced
1 stick butter
1 pound confectioner's sugar (powdered sugar)
1/4 cup apple cider
