Rhonda's Chocolate Chip Cookies

These are by far the best chocolate chip cookies ever! I only make them once in a blue moon because when I do, I eat the whole batch.

3/4 c brown sugar
3/4 c granulated white sugar
1 stick of butter
2/3 c butter flavored shortening
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla
2 3/4 c flour
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
2 c semi-sweet chocolate chips

2 c semi-sweet chocolate chips
Cream the sugars, butter, and shortening then add the egg and vanilla. Add the flour one cup at a time then mix in the baking soda and salt. Stir in the chocolate chips. Cool dough in the refrigerator for one hour before baking. Preheat oven to 375 degree. Drop dough by tablespoon onto an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake for 8 - 10 minutes only until the cookies are starting to brown around the edges, the center should not look done. Let it cool for 5 minutes on the cookie sheet then transfer to newspaper or cooling rack. (I usually cook mine a little longer because my husband does not care for the soft centers.)
