Sweet Potato casserole

I have been making this for years. It was always a dish that was requested at Thanksgiving. You can make this with canned yams, but I am sure it wouldnt taste the same. It appears to be very similar to Ruth Chris sweet potatoes. I have not tried their sweet potatoes, but it looks and sounds similar to this recipe. It can be a messy job to cook and clean the yams.

3 cups cooked sweet potatos or yams( I have only used yams )
1/4 c sugar
1/4 c softened butter
1/4 t salt
1/2 c evaporated milk

3/4 c brown sugar
1/4 c flour
1/4 c butter
1 c pecans
1/4 c sugar
1/4 c softened butter
1/4 t salt
1/2 c evaporated milk

1/4 c flour
1/4 c butter
1 c pecans
Mix yams with sugar softened butter salt and milk until smooth. Place in 8x8 pan. Combine topping mix exxcept the pecans. mix well. Place on top of yam mix. Spread evenly. Sprinkle pecans on top. Bake 45 min at 350 or until hot and topping has browned slightly.
