Who wants cake for breakfast? Me! And I think you do too. My homemade sour cream coffee cake recipe is also the answer to a great start to a happy day.
Coffee Cake Batter:
1 c butter ( softened )
1/4 tsp salt
1 c granulated sugar
1/2 c brown sugar ( packed )
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp baking powder
1 Tbsp vanilla extract
3 large eggs
1-1/4 c milk
3/4 c sour cream
3-1/2 c flour ( sifted )
Vegetable shortening ( for greasing baking dish )
Filling:
3/4 c brown sugar ( packed )
1-1/2 tsp cinnamon
1-1/2 tsp cocoa powder
1/4 c flour
Crumb Topping:
6 Tbsp butter ( melted )
1/4 c granulated sugar
3/4 c brown sugar ( packed )
1-1/2 tsp cinnamon
1 c flour
1 c butter ( softened )

Baked Ambrosia
This easy to make delicious French Apple Cake has a custardy base filled with apples and a cake-like topping.
6 tbsp butter ( room temperature )
2/3 cup sugar
2 eggs
2 tsp vanilla
1 1/3 cups flour
4 tsp baking powder
pinch of salt
1/2 cup milk
6 apples ( peeled and cut into 1/2 inch pieces )
Topping:
10 tbsp butter
3/4 cup sugar
2 eggs
4 oz sliced almonds
confectioner's sugar ( for topping )
2/3 cup sugar

2 tsp vanilla
1 1/3 cups flour
4 tsp baking powder
