Stuffed Sorrel Leaves

Stuffed Sorrel Leaves: Fine edible leaves stuffed with flavor-bombs: this dish is Turkish in origin and creates a lovely smack to your palate.

The bright green sorrel leaves will turn to a muted green when cooked and develop a wonderful texture and flavor with the stuffing. You can use red onions for a tangy and sharp flavor. A teaspoon of chili flakes will create a delightful heat that contrasts with the creaminess and the sharpness of the blue cheese. You can also add freshly ground black pepper to add some heat to the stuffing.

10 large Belleville sorrel leaves
1/2 cup blue cheese diced
1/3 cup yellow onion diced
1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
1.5 cups prunes
1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper

Spiced Prune Rolls

An old-fashioned favorite that will surely bring back memories of good old home cooking. You can omit the ginger if you don't like a gingery taste and you can add other ingredients such as walnuts and almonds. You can also add a half cup of mashed squash to add a neutral sweetness to the filling. You can top the prune roll with vanilla glaze too if you're feeling fancy.

2 cups flour (for crust)
1 tsp salt (for crust)
1 tbsp baking powder (for crust)
2 cups cold water (for crust)
4 cups prunes (for filling)
2 cups sugar (for filling)
1 teaspoon nutmeg (for filling)
