4 c all-purpose flour ( sifted )
1/3 c granulated sugar
3 Tbsp unsalted butter ( softened )
2-1/4 tsp instant yeast
1-1/2 tsp salt
1 c whole milk
1/4 c water ( at room temperature )
1-1/4 c (2-1/2 sticks) unsalted butter ( softened - for laminating )
1 large egg, plus a few drops of water ( for egg wash )

It's August. The days are long and the sun is shining bright. And peaches are in season. That means it's time to make a Peach Upside Down Cake!
Cake:
6 Tbsp butter ( at room temperature )
3/4 c granulated sugar
1 c cake flour ( sifted )
1 tsp baking powder
2 large eggs ( at room temperature )
1/2 c whole milk
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/8 tsp nutmeg
Peaches and Simple Syrup:
2 ripe freestone or cling-free peaches ( sliced into thin wedges )
1/2 c dark brown sugar ( packed )
1/2 c water
Topping:
Homemade whipped cream
6 Tbsp butter ( at room temperature )
3/4 c granulated sugar
1 c cake flour ( sifted )
1 tsp baking powder
2 large eggs ( at room temperature )
1/2 c whole milk
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/8 tsp nutmeg
Peaches and Simple Syrup:
2 ripe freestone or cling-free peaches ( sliced into thin wedges )
1/2 c dark brown sugar ( packed )
1/2 c water

Homemade corn dogs can be made with high-quality sausage and the perfect batter. One thing to make it more interesting is to add herbs and spices. Adding a cup of beer to the batter mixture will create an exciting crunch and flavor too.
12 pieces smoked sausage
1/2 cup yellow cornmeal
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
2 tbsp sugar

1 tbsp honey
1/8 tsp salt

1 tsp cayenne pepper
1/2 cup whole milk
3 rosemary sprigs
1 tbsp chopped sage
Vegetable oil, for frying
1/2 cup yellow cornmeal
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
2 tbsp sugar

1 tbsp honey
1/8 tsp salt
1 large egg
1 tsp cayenne pepper
1/2 cup whole milk
