Time for a Change Orange Bars
139
Seems like everyone makes lemon bars, I happen to love those, but why not change it up a bit?
24
Crust:
1 cup butter, softened
1/2 cup white sugar
2 cups AP flour
zest of one orange
Filling:
2 1/2 Tbsps frozen orange juice concentrate (right out of the can, don't dilute)
4 eggs
1 1/2 cups white sugar
1/4 cup AP flour
1/2 tsp. Grand Marnier
powdered sugar for dusting.
1 cup butter, softened
1/2 cup white sugar
2 cups AP flour
zest of one orange
Filling:
2 1/2 Tbsps frozen orange juice concentrate (right out of the can, don't dilute)
4 eggs
1 1/2 cups white sugar
1/4 cup AP flour
1/2 tsp. Grand Marnier
powdered sugar for dusting.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. (175 degrees C)
In a medium bowl blend together softened butter, 2 cups flour, 1/2 cup sugar and the orange zest. Press in the bottom of a 9x13 pan.
Bake for 15 to 20 minutes in the preheated oven until golden brown. No need to clean the bowl after making the crust. Using the same bowl whisk together the 1 1/2 cups sugar and 1/4 cup flour. Whisk in the eggs, orange juice concentrate and the Grand Marnier. Pour over the baked crust.
Bake for an additional 20 minutes. The bars will firm up as they cool. Dust generously with the powdered sugar and allow to cool. Cut into 24 squares.
