Upside-down Peach Shortcake

It is time for the August edition Lady Behind the Curtain Dessert Challenge! We were asked to incorporate fresh peaches and cream into our recipe. I decided to do a twist on my strawberry shortcake and turn it into an upside-down cake. It is such an easy dessert to make and everyone loved it. I served it with some homemade fresh whipped cream and basil, but I bet it would be amazing with a scoop of ice cream as well!

2 medium peaches halved, pitted and sliced into 8 pieces
2 T brown sugar
1 T cinnamon
a few leaves of fresh basil for garnishing

1 T cinnamon

Prepare the peaches and mix together with the cinnamon and brown sugar.
Let the peaches sit in the mixture for about an hour.
Preheat oven to 350?
Make the batter for the shortcake and set to the side.
