Wild Rice Soup in the Slow Cooker

This quick and easy soup tastes like it took all day to make! It does cook for a good portion of the day, but in the slow cooker! Easy peasy. If you have ever heard that wild rice tastes nutty – don’t let that scare you away! As it cooks the grains ‘open’ up and they end up being just a little chewy and delicious! Fabulous with breadsticks and perfect for a cold night. Soup’s on!

8oz wild rice
16-24oz chicken broth
1 Medium onion (chopped)
5 stalks celery (chopped)
1 1/2 cup carrots (sliced)
4oz cream cheese
10-12oz half and half
2 cans cream of celery soup
2 teaspoons italian seasonings
1/2 teaspoon basil (dry)
1/2 teaspoon oregano (dry)
2 cups cubed butternut squash
1lb chicken breast (diced)
